Steve Hargreaves

Steve Hargreaves is the senior director of media and digital teams, helping coordinate reporter and social outreach among the various teams at Climate Nexus. He spent 11 years as a writer for CNNMoney, first as an energy reporter and later on the economy desk and special projects team. He covered stories including the frenzy over peak oil and record oil prices, the boom in U.S. shale production, and the BP oil spill and the rise of renewables. In 2011 he won a Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing award for a series on the military’s efforts to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. He also spearheaded the site’s coverage of urban innovation, including revitalization efforts in Detroit and a multi-month project on innovative cities.

Before joining CNNMoney he spent two years writing from Bangkok and Istanbul. He started his career at a now-defunct alternative weekly newspaper in Portland, Maine.
