Two top White House science officials have been reassigned after posting debunked papers denying human-caused climate change to a climate denial website funded by the fossil fuel industry. Ryan Maue, a senior official at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and David Legates, who headed the Global Change Research Program, have returned to posts at NOAA. Both had been at their details for less than three months. The papers, which sported the logo of the executive office of the president, claimed, among other things, that the sun, not carbon pollution, is responsible for recent warming. Maue and Legates could potentially face fines or jail time for their unauthorized use of the White House logo. (New York Times $, Washington Post $, EartherThe HillDrilled)
