The US Supreme Court refused to review a lower court’s decision to cancel a permit for the Dakota Access Pipeline, though the pipeline remains in operation as the Biden administration reviews its environmental impact. “The litigation concerning the pipeline is over, but the fight continues,” Earthjustice attorney Jan Hasselman told Grist. The Standing Rock Sioux, other tribes and environmental groups are hoping an environmental review will shut down the controversial pipeline intended to transport crude more than a thousand miles from the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota.
