Hurricane Grace rapidly intensified from a Category 1 to a strong Category 3 hurricane just before making landfall near Tecolutala, Mexico early Saturday morning. At least eight people were killed and over half a million were affected by power outages. Local media reported severe flooding in Xalapa where the overflowed Rio Acopan carried coffins from a local business down a flooded street.
