The Dixie Fire engulfed Greenville, California, Wednesday, reducing much of the Plumas County town to heaps of smoldering rubble. “Downtown Greenville is devastated. There had been speculation, but now there is video to prove it,” the Plumas News reports. The fire is the largest currently burning in California, driven by high winds and extremely low humidity. Supercharged by high heat and drought, both fueled by climate change, the Dixie Fire shows no signs of slowing with 35 mph winds and single digit humidity forecast through Thursday.
