House Democrats’ campaign to make Hot FERC Summer a thing continued last week as Reps. Tom Malinowski (N.J.) and Sean Casten (Ill.) reintroduced a pair of bills to set time limits for FERC to respond to appeals brought by landowners impacted by pipeline and transmission projects, E&E reports. Casten’s floor speech was accompanied by a “Fercalicious” poster. FERC has come under repeated criticism for its “Kafkaesque regime” of review that leaves landowners in legal “purgatory” while allowing pipeline companies to engage in damaging “pre-construction” activities. The efforts to raise the obscure commission’s profile appear to be working. “You know you’re getting the message across when Fox News starts to do daily segments on FERC,” Casten remarked on Twitter.
