Brazilian authorities believe they have recovered the bodies of Dom Phillips, a freelance reporter for The Guardian, and Bruno Araújo Pereira, a former government official and Indigenous Brazilian activist. The 10-day search for the two missing people apparently concluded when a fisherman arrested in connection with their disappearance confessed to their murder and led police to their bodies. Pereira helped found patrol teams working to combat illegal fishing in the Javari Valley Indigenous reservation and Phillips was there interviewing members of those patrols.
