Despite sustained efforts to weaken or undo actions to limit climate change, the Trump administration largely failed to undermine the National Climate Assessment, the New York Times reports. Those efforts go back to the first half of Trump’s only term when the administration attempted to hide the NCA by releasing it the day after Thanksgiving — a move that backfired when many news outlets covered it prominently, in part because of the administration’s efforts to bury it. “Thank God they didn’t know how to run a government,” Thomas Armstrong, who led the program that produces the NCA during the Obama administration, told the Times. “It could have been a lot worse.” (New York Times $)
